OFFICIAL VID: Alex Winston - Fire Ants
Fire Ants is a very fun and funky bluesy pop track from Detroit indie singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex Winston. The single will be on her debut album King Con which comes out later this year. I’m very curious to hear how the rest of that album will be. I shared her La Blogotheque video and another song from her titled Choice Notes several weeks ago. Check ‘em out...

Acidic Noel Gallagher
There was a ton of noise this past year due to the excitement over Noel Gallagher’s post-Oasis project High Flying Birds. The self titled debut album produced a lot of buzz in 2011. Mr. Gallagher also continued to produce endless buzz himself via dramatics and theatrics. In the meantime, he promised yet another album, this time a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous. Here’s the...

OFFICIAL VID: Geographer - Kites
Sweet! One of my all time favorite Geographer songs, Kites, now has an official video! I fell in love with this song a couple years ago when it was only in existence on the Animal Shapes EP. It is now the closing song on Geographer’s new full length, Myth, a critically acclaimed and long awaited release. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Kites is one of the lead singles off the...

OFFICIAL VID: Mouse On Mars - Polaroyced
Oooh this is a great electronic track from Mouse On Mars, titled Polaroyced. The video is absurdly epic too with its dancer in a wrestling mask and floating puppies. Polaroyced is a VERY brilliant track filled with spacey bloopiness from the German duo off their new album Parastrophics. The music is textured and not repetitive at all for an instrumental electric tune. These guys have been making...

OFFICIAL VID: Parakeet - Tomorrow
How about some indie noise rock? Who can resist some good, grungy guitars? The tune Tomorrow is from the band Parakeet, which consists Mariko Doi (bassist from Yuck) and James Thomas (The History of Apple Pie). Their side project is sounding pretty good so far with this track, and here’s the brand new music video.

OFFICIAL VID: CSL SX & I Break Horses - Violent...
Mmmm here’s a nommy new video and tune from CSLSX and I Break Horses for their song Violent Sea. I’m not at all familiar with CSLSX, but I am with I Break Horses, another great Swedish indie duo. You’ll like this if you’re a an M83 fan. It’s very sweeping synthpop and extremely dreamy. You can just let your mind drift away with the textured music on a journey. I,...

Mwahaha. You will never get away from Video Games. Evarrrr! Just when it seemed to quiet down in regards to Lana Del Rey Video Games remixes and covers, London producer Joy Orbison decides to throw us a music video for his trippy, garage remix. The video doesn’t really have anything new to it, it’s more of a “remix” video.

OFFICIAL VID: Gorillaz feat Andre 3000 and James...
The Converse three artists one song project released the Gorillaz, Andre 3000, and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) collaboration DoYaThing the other day. When I shared, there were those that hated it and those that loved it. Yes, indeed, it’s not the best Gorillaz track and the songs from this Converse project haven’t been top notch, but it’s still a decent song and it’s...

ALBUM STREAM: Bowerbirds - The Clearing
Here’s some folksy music for you to wax nostalgic. It’s perfect for a quiet evening and some introspective thoughts. Stream Bowerbirds’ The Clearing below in full. This is their third album, and it’s the one I mentioned previously as recorded partly in Bon Iver’s studio. The three piece hails from North Carolina. The Clearing drops on March 5th on independent record...

OFFICIAL VID: Access Royale - Hide
Access Royale is a uniquely formed band from Los Angeles. The alt rock outfit found each other via Craigslist early last year. All hail, the great and mighty Craigslist! Actually, I’m sure there are a lot of bands grabbing bits and pieces of their group from Craigslist, but this is one of the first times I’ve seen one such mosaic featured on NME. Their single Hide is a very decent...

OFFICIAL VID: ScHoolboy Q - Druggys WitH Hoes...
Dang, this is really wonky and wacky. It’s actually pretty good, and the lyrics are very nasty. You’ve been warned. I’m not the biggest hip hop and rap fan, so I’m always a little cautious when I check out new tracks, but there’s something about this ScHoolboy Q ditty that I do like. I’m very picky with my hip hop. I just have to ignore how foul the language...

The Drums B-side
We already know that Days is the next great single from The Drums off of album Portamento with the release of the video the other day. Along with the single will come a brand new B-side titled I Don’t Want To Go Alone. It’s a less pop rock track than normal for The Drums, and a lot more sultry, synthy, and drawn out.

Here’s the video for that collaboration between Morgan Page and Tegan & Sara. Body Work may not count as the higher quality work from Tegan & Sara, but it’s still wonderful to see new material and new footage. The song isn’t bad at all though, it’s a great, fun, catchy tune with huge growth potential on repeat listens. I like it. It’s very similar to dance...

New Keane album
I’m pretty excited about this. Yes, I am. I will try not to set my expectations too high. For a long while now, a new Keane album has been rumored to be in the works. It’s official now. Strangeland will be released on May 7, 2012. I miss Keane. Here’s the trailer for Strangeland. The snippets in it sound promising and hint at a possible return to earlier Keane. I believe their...

OFFICIAL VID: Gotye - Easy Way Out
Fresh off the HUGE success of Somebody That I Used To Know, Gotye had a high bar set for himself in regards to cool videos. His latest one for Easy Way Out does not disappoint. Though his video with Kimbra is probably going down as one of the best of this time period, Easy Way Out is a very entertaining, artsy video too. I love that animated cat at the beginning. The song itself is good, but...

New Marina And The Diamonds!
Marina and the Diamonds previewed a new track titled Homewrecker, and here it is below. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite indie pop track from her, but it’ll probably grow on me over time. It seems a little more on the shallower side of pop than normal for the talented Welsh singer songwriter and doesn’t really stand out much. The song also sounds similar in dance-y...

OFFICIAL VID: Arctic Monkeys - R U Mine?
Arctic Monkeys have a present for us today too. Their latest video is for R U Mine. They seem to churn out those videos pretty quick, it doesn’t feel like too long ago that they gave us singles and B-side videos. Quieting it down with the beauty of Bon Iver. Today, Bon Iver announced a new official video for Towers. Though no incredible Icelandic Holocene video, it’s filled with great, rustic cinematography. Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) + Michael Kiwanuka
You read that right. Blues rock master Dan Auerbach, lead vocalist and guitarist for The Black Keys, teamed up with the red hot emerging soul artist Michael Kiwanuka on a track titled Lasan. There’s definitely a bluegrass feel to the folksy, country track. It has a lot less of Kiwanuka’s usual soul flavor, but it shows that his sound can be versatile.

New video for School Of Seven Bells first single off upcoming album Ghostory, Lafaye! This one really grew on me since I first heard it previewed. Right The Stars and Karmina cover of Gotye
Looks like I missed a Gotye cover a few weeks ago. How’d THAT happen? I’m always on point when it comes to Somebody That I Used To Know and Lana Del Rey covers, aren’t I? ;) At least the good ones anyway. Here’s a quiet, slower, softer version by Right The Stars featuring Karmina. It’s a lot less angry and possibly even more Phil Collins-like/new wave-esque than the...

OFFICIAL VID: Exit Earth - No Light Sense
I always love it when bands are not world superstars just yet, and they come up with these low budget, raw videos for their songs. Their music is a healthy, satisfying dose of grungy guitars and rock. Below is their lo-fi video for No Light...

The video for Canadian band Islands’ indie pop tune Hallways is very quirky and filled with skeletons. But don’t worry, it’s far more goofy than scary. And it’s more adorable than creepy. These skeletons know how to shimmy and rock. Keep watching for a dose of dark comedy. It’s cute! Isn’t it?

ALBUM STREAM: Geographer - Myth
Geographer’s sophomore album Myth is now streaming over at Paste a week before it releases. It’s definitely one of the more anticipated indie albums of late. I subsequently caught them at Bottom Of The Hill, where, in that tiny venue, my friends and I had the pleasure of briefly hanging out with...

Wow, Sinead O’Connor performed her new single The Wolf Is Getting Married live a few nights ago, and she totally blew my expectations! Mos Def, I mean Yasiin Bey, is still DOPE
Saw this floating around the past day or so, and I finally got around to checking it out. Thank goodness I didn’t let this slip through the cracks.
